New Disciples Information
Your New Church Family Would Like to Welcome You to This House of Worship
We are so excited that you have joined our church family, and have become partners with us on this Christian Journey. We would like to share with you some additional information that may be of particular interest to you.
What is Salvation?
Salvation is deliverance from the guilt and penalty of your sins by accepting Jesus Christ’s death on the cross. You receive deliverance from your sins by doing the following:
Admit that you have made mistakes.” Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
Agree that you pay a price.” Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Acknowledge God’s love for you.” Romans 5:8 – But, God demonstrated His love for us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.
Accept salvation by faith.” Romans 10:9 – That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and will believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. - Romans 10:13
Can I lose my salvation?
No. Salvation is given to you through God’s grace, not your actions. It is a gift that can not be taken away. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9
What do I do now that I am saved?
Christianity is not about coming to church on Sunday, although morning worship is a part of your walk with Christ. Christianity is about a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. In relationship with Christ, you will grow and become more like Christ in your actions and attitude.
What is Baptism?
It is an outward symbol of an inward commitment to Christ. Sinners are not saved through baptism. Sinners are saved through faith in Jesus Christ demonstrated by confessing with one’s mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in one’s heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9).
When should I be baptized?
Baptism can only occur after we have believed that Christ died on the cross for our sins and that God raised him from the dead. As a result, we do not baptise individuals who are unable to make this confession. Infants and very young children are not baptized for this purpose.
Parents of infants and very young children can participate in Baby Dedication. This service allows parents to formally present their children to God and make a public commitment to raise their children in the way of the Lord. To sign up for Baby Dedication, please call the Church office @ 631-842-6770. Baby Dedications can be held on 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th Sundays.
Why should I be baptized?
We are baptized because God requires it. Throughout scripture, God mandates that we baptize those who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior (Matthew 28:19-20). We also follow the example of Jesus Christ who was baptized (Mark 1: 9-11)
